Coaching Sessions - develop your cycling!

06 Feb 2012

GGCC are passionate about cycling and we want everyone to get the most from their time on the bike so that each and every ride is enjoyed and every time we ride, we all progress as riders.
We have been working away behind the scenes and been talking with Glasgow Life regarding coaching and training sessions for you, the members of GGCC.

Jake Lovatt, the Glasgow Life / Glasgow Sports, Cycling Development Officer will be delivering structured cycling specific coaching sessions for those members that would like to take part, but we would strongly recommend that if you can get involved......then do so.

No matter what level your cycling is at and no matter how long you have been riding, you can always learn and become even better on 2 wheels.
Jake will deliver the first coaching session on Sunday Feb 12th at 11am in and around Glasgow Green as the initial coaching sessions must take place in a traffic free environment. If the first coaching session is a success then Jake will look to develop further coaching and training session for us out in live situations.

The possibilities are endless and it’s both exciting and extremely fortunate to have such a skill set and such a knowledgeable rider to give GGCC input and guidance!

Examples of some of the areas that will be touched upon on Sunday 12th Feb are – Communication / Confidence on the bike / Holding a Wheel / Through & Off / Group Navigation (slipping through a gap) / Bike set up

We may not have time to cover all of these areas as we will aim to finish at our usual time of 12.30pm ish so people still have their Sunday afternoon.

Jake is keen to have an open forum so have a think about what YOU want to learn........it’s your club!

Once the basics are covered off then Jake can develop a future sessions to cover climbing and descending and we may take that session to Crow Road so it can be put into practice! We may even have a GGCC Criterium with some coaching mixed in!

I am sure you will agree that this is a fantastic opportunity that should not be missed.
Many Thanks to Jake in advance for helping, supporting and coaching GGCC and its members!
